Vrai, Philippe Couillard est le nouveau chef du parti libéral du Québec, mais le vrai grand gagnant de cette fin de semaine est un cabinet d’avocats: McCarthy Tétrault!
Voilà de la super bonne promo. On les a tous vus à la télé!
Le nom de McCarthy a d’ailleurs bien circulé dans les médias durant toute la fin de semaine, notamment parce que Jean Charest a joint récemment ce cabinet.
Discours de Jean Charest
Jean Charest a d’ailleurs pris la parole samedi soir à l’occasion du congrès au leadership de son parti, faisant l’éloge de la formation qu’il a pilotée durant des années.
Faisant un retour sur les débuts de chef au sein du parti, il a tenu à remercier Daniel Johnson, celui qu'il l'avait amené au PLQ.
«En 1998, lorsque je suis devenu chef du Parti libéral du Québec, j'ai pris toute la mesure de mes responsabilités. En me rappelant ceux qui m'avaient précédé : Adélard Godbout, George-Émile Lapalme, Jean Lesage, Robert Bourassa, Gérard D. Lévesque, Claude Ryan et celui qui me tendit la main pour vous rejoindre et sans qui je ne serais pas devenu premier ministre du Québec, Daniel Johnson.»
«L'alternative que le PQ offre encore aujourd'hui, c'est le repli et c'est le recul. C'est tellement le recul que s'il y avait une compétition mondiale pour la marche arrière, le PQ serait champion», a affirmé M. Charest sous les applaudissements et cris de joie de la foule.
Il a poursuivi dans la même lignée ajoutant que «si le PQ avait à nous faire un hymne national, ce serait "bip, bip, bip, bip, bip"», en imitant le son d'un camion en marche arrière.
Éloge de son patron
Marc-André Blanchard, ancien président du PLQ, et maintenant son patron chez McCarthy, a rappelé le jour de juin 2002 où, après avoir perdu quatre élections complémentaires, Jean Charest l'avait convié à un lunch. Blanchard s'attendait à y recevoir la démission sans appel de Jean Charest. Ce dernier voulait au contraire mettre en place le comité de transition pour l'arrivée d'un gouvernement libéral. Neuf mois plus tard, il était premier ministre.
Il a rappelé les tirades de la campagne référendaire de 1995, où Jean Charest invitait les Québécois à «se faire plaisir» et à voter «Non» avec son passeport en poche.
M. Blanchard a récemment sillonné le Canada avec sa nouvelle recrue, Jean Charest, «et sur la rue des gens lui disaient: M. Charest je veux vous remercier, vous avez sauvé notre pays !».

il y a 12 ansDSG, we probably don't know each other but I think we should meet. Indeed, I am looking for a position as a lawyer and I think you can help me. I have had bad experiences with the recruitment firms as they only care if you fit the profile that they are looking for. They have shown me little respect. At any rate, maybe I can benefit from your experience: I'm a recent call. I'll buy lunch. Let me know.

They only care if you fit the profile, as well as the social types they are looking for. All I can tell you is don’t let them get you down. If they knew what it takes to be good lawyers, they would still be lawyers. Whenever a recruiter or any other potential employer shows you disrespect, use that negative energy as motivation. Don’t be afraid to knock on doors, over and over if you have to. If the recruiter won’t submit your cv to firm you’re interested in, do it yourself. Explain to the firm that you’ll take care of their fees if they complain and if they do, you ask them to explain why they didn't submit for a job that you ended up getting. Some firms are in bed with them and don’t want the headaches. Others see them exactly for what they are. Besides, some lawyers like perseverance.
