il y a 8 ansIt sickens me to read this stuff. I dislike Coderre as much as the next guy but I commend him for trying to eradicate this breed from Montreal. People who own or who defend owning this breed are naïve and have zero consideration for the safety and wellbeing of others. Just think about it: we can't smoke anywhere near the vicinity of others yet we can walk around with animals bred to inflict maximum harm on their victims.

il y a 8 ansI think you have a wrong definition dangerousness. There is a higher number of death by homicide or by car accidents than deadly dog attacks. Should we lock up all human beings, impose a curfew and forbid everyone to drive cars because of a few deranged and negligent individuals? Have you also considered that the death toll on animals by humans is significantly higher than the death toll of humans by animals? I'm no PETA supporter but the frenzy of naming all pitbulls killers is just so ridiculous. The victims of dog attacks deserve all sympathy because human life is indeed precious. However general characterisation of evilness in a breed should be denounced in the lack of scientific evidence.

il y a 8 ansNo one believes or claims that all pitbulls are evil.
The fact however is that this breed is responsible for a disproportionate amount of homicides, in part because of genetic traits that were bred into the breed. You are the one who is refuting science (statistics and genetics) when you claim that the breed is not any worse than others.
You can't claim that sheepdogs have herding bred into them (they actually do!) and then claim that the aggressiveness bred into pitbulls (it totally was) has no impact on their behaviour. Their temperament is a result of genetics and sadly they can and do snap sometimes with tragic results in part because of their strength (another characteristic bred into them).
Your analogies are ridiculous. Dog lovers could and should get another breed more adapted to city living.
